HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ETHAN!

This big guy just turned five. Last night when I talked to him on the phone he joyously shared that he'd received a bird for his birthday; a sweet little thing with a blue beak and wings. (Parakeet?) He explained how he was going to take care of it, clean out its cage, feed it bird food... I thought, "Wow, that was really ambitious of Catherine (my sister) to get Ethan a bird..." It turns out it's a plastic bird. But the whole conversation illustrated for me what a dear, imaginative kid Cousin Ethan is. And that is one luckly little plastic bird.

Reminds me of the story where you told mom that you had befriended a boy at preschool that no one else would play with because he had no legs. Mom thought, "Oh,my compassionate, sweet child." When she met "Stevie" turns out he was a doll.

I forgotten the story about Stevie! Thank you, Laurel!

We did celebrate Ethan's bithday last evening at our house when they(Catherine, Grace, Ethan, and Beth)came for Tuesday dinner. We had found some cupcakes with a Happy Birthday on them that were covered with mounds of bright frosting that both Gracie and Ethan got all over their faces while eating the frosting off! Yes, Ethan has a wonderful imagination and will tell you a story that may or may not be true, however you suspect because he has the twinkle in his eye, he is "pulling your leg". He is my favorite person!

Ethan loves his bird cage and recently got a smaller bird from the beacher street mall that can fit in it. He loves his toys and always caries at least 4 things with him at all times.
