Originally, we had intended that nothing but milky touch Fiona's lips until she was six months old. However, over the past week she was waking every two hours at night to nurse (something she hadn't done since she was a tiny infant) and was strongly requesting "nursing naps" for a couple of hours every afternoon.
She was hungry.
Now, she will slowly be introduced to the glorious world of food. The moment the avocado touched her lips she opened her mouth with an expression of, "Finally." Her reaction indicates joy, curiosity, pensive thought, and happiness.

It won't be long before she is using the spoon. It is interesting that she has it the whole time while she is eating the avocado. These pictures are great! I suspect, John, may have taken them. Anyway it was fun for all of us to be a part of the first solid food! Thank you!
She already uses the spoon, although her aim is pretty unsteady. I like to give her a spoon and I take a spoon at the same time; I hope this will encourage her to keep trying. John took the "during" photos and I took the "after" photos. We gave her avocado again today... she LOVES it.
I can't believe she liked it. I mean...GREEN. What kid likes things that are green? She is a pretty advanced child however. Using a spoon and all. Pretty soon she'll be booking her own plane tickets on line to come see her Auntie Loonie.
She looks like Catherine in that bottom picture. Maybe it is the avacados..."Cados...I LOVE cados."
Excellent! I laughed out loud when I saw the last photo. If only she and Finn could share favorite recipes.
